Incredibles 2 isn’t even out yet and it’s already breaking records. The Disney/Pixar animated family film is on track to become Fandango’s #1 pre-seller.
The beauty of animation is that your cast will never age—okay, maybe their voices will. But it’s much easier to find a voice likeness than a physical likeness when recasting. That’s probably why The Incredibles took their sweet time getting a sequel out to fans. It’s been 14 years since the original, but hype for the super-family seems to still be at an all-time high.
The evidence? Fandango is reporting that Incredibles 2 is slated to become it’s #1 pre-seller, outpacing the online ticketing site’s current best—Finding Dory (2016), another Disney/Pixar favorite. We can come up with all the puns in the world for this: that’s really an “incredible” feat; it seems so effortless that it doesn’t even need to “stretch” for that goal; the film is really making a “dash” for that record; okay, you get the idea. LOS ANGELES (June 7, 2018) – Disney Pixar’s “Incredibles 2,” voted #1 most anticipated family movie of 2018 in a Fandango moviegoer survey, is now strutting its pre-sales super powers on Fandango. Busting into theaters on June 15, “Incredibles 2” is on pace to become Fandango’s biggest animated pre-seller of all time and one of the summer’s biggest hits.
The film is out-pacing the current animated pre-sales record-holder on Fandango “Finding Dory,” at the same point in the sales cycle, along with other summer blockbusters from the past two years, including “Wonder Woman,” “Spider-man Homecoming,” and “Suicide Squad.”
“Fans have been waiting over a decade to see the return of Pixar’s most beloved heroic family, and those years of anticipation are leading to record-breaking advance ticket sales for ‘Incredibles 2’,” said Erik Davis, Fandango managing editor. “The film is already receiving terrific early buzz, and with summer vacation in full swing for many kids, ‘Incredibles 2’ is poised to become one of season’s biggest hits.”
