What would a summer blockbuster be without a series or really cool character posters? Luckily Avengers: Infinity War is more than happy to oblige.

How do you know the hype machine for April’s Avengers: Infinity War has kicked into high gear?

Because the character posters have arrived.

The whole idea of character posters in a relatively new phenomena that has taken a firm grip in the PR departments of every major film studio. It used to be that a movie would release a teaser poster and then the main poster with possibly a few variations thrown in for good measure.

Now it seems that no major genre film can hit the big screen before each and every character in featured in their very own poster, which just happen to be a perfect way to drum up interest on social media.

On Wednesday, a steady stream of character posters arrived on the various Instagram and Twitter accounts of the film’s stars, showcasing all the main players in Avengers: Infinity War.

And with Infinity War including practically every hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that is a heck of a lot of posters.

So far 22 has arrived and they include everyone from Captain America to Wong to Drax to War Machine. A big feature of the images is that they include a look at the upgrades and changes to the weapons and costumes of all your favorite Avengers. Of key interest is Peter Parker’s new Iron Spider look, redesigned armor for both Iron Man and War Machine and a blonde Black Widow.

Of course, it must be mentioned who is missing from the onslaught of character posters, namely Hawkeye.

This could have been done intentionally, seeing as Clint Barton’s absence from the trailer and official movie poster has been a hot topic for debate among geeks everywhere. I really wouldn’t put it past Joe and Anthony Russo to do exactly that just to get people talking.
