In the tradition of previous Star Wars movies, this May Marvel will publish an adaption of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi with all-new content.
You may remember when Marvel published their comic book adaption of Star Wars: The Force Awakens that it came out almost a full six months after the movie was released. They did the same with their adaption of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story except for that one they added new content that was exclusive to their adaption.
Yes, it may be a bit odd for a comic book adaption to come out almost half a year after the movie, but in this age of spoilers and fans wanting nothing to ruin seeing the latest tale from a galaxy far, far away, it has become necessary.
So, just like clockwork, on Friday Marvel announced that they will indeed be publishing a comic adaption of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which arrived in theaters back in December. The six-issue miniseries will include new, never-before-seen material that will expand the story beyond what happened in the film. And yes, it will all be canon.
The series will be written by Gary Whitta with art from Michael Walsh and Mike Spicer. If the name Gary Whitta sounds strangely familiar it’s because he was one of the screenwriters that worked on Rogue One. He has also written episodes of Star Wars: Rebels and wrote one of the stories that appeared in the recent prose anthology Star Wars: From A Certain Point of View.

So do you really need to add The Last Jedi to your pull list at your local comic shop? That depends on what kind of fan you are.
The miniseries will be arriving just as Solo: A Star Wars Story makes its debut in theaters. If Solo is half as bad as many of us have been led to believe, then you may need a distraction to try to take your mind off what Disney did to Han Solo.
On the other hand, if you were one of the vociferous minority that felt that director Rian Johnson ruined Star Wars with what he did in The Last Jedi, I highly doubt that any of the new material will change your mind about the movie.
The again, if you are like most Star Wars fans and need to know every available bit of information about the saga, then you will probably not want to miss it.
It looks lie you have a decision to make.
